What does SOS stand for?
Making your views understood. Save Open Space is dedicated to education and the application of sound ecological practices pertaining to land and water uses resulting in improved environmental quality for the citizens and children of Dallas.

Where does SOS operate?
Primarily, it functions in Dallas but addresses county, regional, state & federal water & land issues.

What is the benefit of joining SOS?
Simply stated - making a difference! You are joining a team focused on contributing to improving ecological polices and practices within the city & county which benefit residents/citizens through preservation and maintenance of natural habitat in addition to recovery of open space including creeks, steams, and waterways. In addition, you will be invited to events throughout the year with wonderful speakers on topics that will educate and inspire us.

What can I do locally to help SOS?
Make your voice heard. Participate in monthly meetings or specific efforts and goal driven objectives like increasing county open space through web connections, email, and/or personal contact. Do as much as your time will allow collectively contributing to an overall effort which can be rewarding to you as well as others.

How was SOS started?

How much are annual dues to join SOS?
Annual dues are $25 for an individual membership.

Do I have to attend meetings or can I be e-connected for the most part?
Either or both are possbile and can correspond to the time you have available. Joining a committee with specific objectives allows networking with e-ties that can easily be done from home or anywhere at any time while effort is in progress.

What are SOS's current objectives?
Southern Dallas land use and development, streams, and Form-Based Zoning implications on open space are consideration from which specific projects can evolve. Anticipation is that this will lead to 4-6 education meetings this year with speakers/programs relating to these focus areas.

Can SOS help candidates seeking appointments through endorsements or other means?
It has been a long standing practice to influence public policy by supporting individuals who share SOS objectives now and for the future.
