Vice President, Save Open Space

David has lived in Dallas for over 25 years, and he and his wife, Nancy Bateman, live in Lake Highlands where they are active in the Rolling Trails Neighborhood Association.

He graduated from Waxahachie H.S. in 1972 and from Rice University in 1977 with an M.A. double major in Physics and Math. Science. In 1991, he received an M.S. in Geosciences from UTD. Currently, he is a senior computer engineer with Hewlett-Packard.

In 1997, he accepted the chairmanship of the Texas Committee on Natural Resources (now the Texas Conservation Alliance), a statewide non-profit conservation organization and the Texas affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. He has been the Conservation Co-Chair of the Dallas Sierra Club and served on the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club Executive Committee (1999-2002). Currently, he is on the Executive Committee of the Dallas Group of the Sierra Club and on the Board of the Texas Conservation Alliance.

He has served on the Save Open Space board for over 10 several years and is currently a vice-president.

Responsibilities include identifying Business Development opportunities, promoting Organizational Development, and analyzing Real Estate Development projects.

Mr. Rende works at both the Local and National level in a Business Strategy and Marketing capacity. This successful real estate developer assists municipalities with innovative economic revitalization and redevelopment initiatives. He also served as Economic Development Chair of the City of Dallas Trinity River Citizens Committee.

Joseph Rende holds a Graduate Certificate in Commercial Real Estate Development from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Masters in Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University. He holds volunteer positions as Vice President of Save Open Space and as a member of the City of Dallas Green Building Committee.

Moved to Texas in mid 50's as a youngster, graduated from North Texas State University with BS. Post Graduate work completed at PHB Hecle, located in Saarland Germany. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Kerr devoted 30 years to St. Pius X, Romans Catholic Church as Office Manager. He has been a long time member of Save Open Space.
