Help Us Make Our Community a Better Place to Live, Work, and Play...

ABOUT US

Save Open Space (SOS) is a nonprofit organization that works to create responsible open space stewardship through public events and education. In response to the demands of our evergrowing regional population, SOS calls for preserving and creating more natural open spaces and parkland. Our primary focus concerns the protection of the natural and scenic features of the Dallas region, such as rivers, creeks, floodplains, woodlands and prairies and their wildlife habitats, from poorly planned urbanization.

The Members of Save Open Space come from throughout the Dallas area and from all occupations and backgrounds. We are conservationists, educators, developers, economists, architects, planners, engineers, community volunteers, and others who want to save open space.

WHAT WE DO

Since 1971, SOS has worked to develop solutions to serve the needs of area residents. We work in citizen task forces and at educational gatherings with our members and elected officials to develop solutions that serve the needs of area residents by fostering thoughtful, sustainable communities. Through eduction and prudent advocacy, Save Open Space has helped preserve more than 3,000 acres of natural space for future generations. We meet monthly to stay abreast of current initiatives.
